The Sound of Fall

*plink*

You know what that sound means? That sound means it is officially Fall for me.

*plink plink*

That lovely sound is ringing through my house at the moment as the jars of applesauce I just finished canning cool on the counter.

*plunk*

Ok... maybe I overfilled that jar...

*plink*

Three hours of work, peeling, coring, seasoning and cooking down. All for ten pints of applesauce. Yup... its fall ^.^

*plink*

And yes, I am noting the "plink's" in real time as I type.

Oh, and I made a pair of gloves. Very annoyed at the yarn however. It started piling on the first wear -.-

Good excuse to make another pair as far as I am concerned.

D&D and Knitting

I don't have much to report since my last post, Though I did finish my Snuggles Gloves from Ravlery. I LOVE how they turned out, but sadly they are FAR to thick to be worn comfortably at work.

Oh well, all that means is I have a new pair of driving gloves for winter that won't wear out in few weeks.

It also give me an excuse to play with my Shubui Dragonfly sock yarn to make Koigu Fingerless Gloves. This will be the first time using this yarn and let me tell you, I cannot WAIT to play with this. It is super soft and springy enough that I think its going to knit up into some great work gloves. Time will tell on that though. I've tried a few patterns out now for work gloves and each one has had its' problems that make the glove unsuitable for the work I do. Which mostly means they impede my typing ability enough to make me want to take them off whenever I need to type something... which is pretty much all the time.

Now, as to the title of this post, many people know I am a nerdy/geeky gamer girl. I like D&D, MMORPG's, Sci-Fi, Steampunk etc. And I always find it amusing when I pull double duty on that nerdy/geeky gamer front. One of this instances happens to be tonight.

As I post this my husband and I husband are playing a game of Pathfinder over Skype with a group of friends. To fill in the time between RPing I am alternating working on a Christmas project and my N7 glarf.  This made me think about what I'm doing most nights that I'm gaming in one form or another. Most D&D nights I'm knitting and when I think about it they do tend to be of the geeky variety. But when I'm knitting at work, it is always something benign, or at least seemingly benign like my Dr. Who scarf. I wonder why this is... I usually have the geeky stuff with me, but for some reason I don't pull it out at work. Curious and certainly food for thought.  Am I ashamed of my geeky knitting habits? I have no qualms about wearing my animal ear hats at work, but I won't bring out my geeky knits? Hmm...

Well I am going to go ponder this and while I do that I leave you with a picture of the ghost kitty Yuki. And yes, this is how she usually sleeps on my computer desk shelf.

I think I'm a tiger. Rwar!

N7 Projects

Well today I discovered the joy of "Space Bags". It's kind of nice to be able to put your ENTIRE winter wardrobe under the bed and still have space left over.

But enough of that, I've got an update on the N7 glarf I have been working on. The logo pattern section is done. It didn't turn out quite like I would have liked to but hey, it's not bad for a test shot of the pattern. I knitted vertically opposed tothe original that was knitted horizontally so the triangle turned out different. But like I said, it will work for a test of the pattern. Next time I think I'll add another row or two to the long side of the triangle to see if that makes it look less funky. Only two more feet to go before I can start the fun striping.

As a comparsion I'm posting an old project as well. Say hello to the N7 dice bag!

Not the best pic in the world but it does show the difference in how the triangle looks. (The dice bag was also knitted/completed before someone decided to mention that I had the colours reversed -.- Oh well, I like the white background so there :-p)

I see a lot of future projects featuring the N7 logo... it is rather fun to knit after all.
