Vintage Knitting

All I have to say is I have some of the most AWESOME coworkers ever. And be warned, this is a photo heavy post!

Long story made short, word has gotten around at work that I am a knitter and several people now have given me hand me down yarn. Usually from a mother or grandmother that has passed, or that will shortly be moving into a new location.

Today however, I was given hand me down patterns and needles... a LOT of needles.

Lookit um all! There are several duplicates but still. That is a LOT of needles!

For reference, the needles on the right are size 6. The ones on the left have no size,  only a 1' dia!

There was some more vintage yarn as well.

But now for the prizes of this generous gift, the patterns.

I'll try to get a better pic of this one once I have a chance to flatten it under some books.

Date on this paper is 1978!

Mens vest pattens, how sheak.
The price on this one is 35cents!

And a closeup of our dapper lads.

And look at this fine foxy lady, so couture, stylish and fashionable.

Baby afghan with I think what is meant to be a Snoopy doll? He's kinda creepy looking...

Scary....

And here we have yet another fashionable vest.

And the staple of any knitter or crocheter library, afghans.

But this is the REAL treasure, handwritten/typed patterns.

So yeah, I was lucky enough to be handed some real treasures today. I've also promised to scan all of these pattens and give a copy of the pdf's to the coworker that gave me all of this.  She told me as she handed over the bag that there were a lot of memories of her mom knitting these things.  That said, I am MORE then happy to preserve them for her any way I can.

Oh yeah, and this is the bag all of this came in.

Sadly, I do not get to keep the bag.
